Welcome all pongers! We are extremely excited to officially announce Pongstars next beer pong tournament scheduled for January 24-26, 2020 in Glendale, Arizona. Please join us for what is surely to be one of the more unique and exciting beer pong tournaments in quite some time. It also won’t hurt to escape your dreaded winters for our sunny 60’s.
The Arizona Beer Pong State Championships will be the first event in nearly two years that we’ve played any significant role in. The last, which many proclaimed it one of the best events they’ve attended, was the West Coast Classic in March of 2018. Since then we’ve taken some time away from event organizing to focus on the bigger picture by putting together a plan. A three year plan to be more specific. This will take place over a series of very noticeable “phases”. The Arizona Beer Pong State Championships are the start of Phase 1 along with a few other introductions that will be made alongside it.
Arizona Beer Pong State Championships Weekend
This well timed break during the NFL Playoffs will provide the perfect escape for every football fan(and their girlfriend) dreading the weekend off before The Superbowl. Over the course of the weekend there will be five total events; two on Friday night, two on Saturday and the main event will be a single day Sunday event. There’s going to be quite a bit of “firsts” with this event.
For starters, we’re going to do things a little differently when it comes to announcing events. Every Monday for the month of September, we’re going to release information and registration for a different side event. On September 30, 2019 every event and their respective registrations will be open until January 20, 2020 at 12:00am. At this point no more registrations will be taken for any event.
Stingers Bar and Grill
Each event will be held in newly renovated Stingers Bar and Grill. Anyone familiar with the Arizona Beer Pong scene knows this venue very well. It’s located in the heart of Glendale, AZ just two miles West of the I-17. There are a total of 22 hotels within 2.5 miles of the venue and a few more Airbnbs for the larger groups.
The great thing about Stingers aside from their tolerance for an Arizona Shit Dog is the variety of entertainment they provide. You have your choice of a game of pool, darts, shuffleboard, foosball, poker and for the truly degenerate, an OTB for dogs and ponies.
theCHIVE + Pongstars
One thing we pride ourselves on is full transparency and The Arizona Beer Pong State Championships are only happening for one reason, theCHIVE. How’s this? Well it’s pretty simple actually. We reached out to them and they responded by asking that we first run an event with a local chapter. Insert Arizona State Chive plus their Social Group and we have ourselves a co host!
The biggest part of their involvement right now is the Chive Charities. With every registration we take in for the main event, we will be donating $25 directly to the Chive Charities Fund. These donations will not affect the prize pool in any way. More on their involvement as we move closer to the event.
More Firsts
We already touched on how we’re going to release the information as well as who our co host is. If that wasn’t enough for you then here are some more teasers:
- First $10,000 beer pong tournament held in Arizona
- Friday’s first side event has never been done
- Saturday’s evening event has never been done
- Sunday’s main event structure will be new
- Live streaming features never before seen for beer pong
- The way each event is ran will be completely brand new to beer pong
- First event to use our new beer pong rules
There will potentially be a few other surprises and new additions to what we’re doing but until those become more concrete, they’ll remain silent. As for what’s listed above, we will touch on each individual point over the next two months. All information pertaining to this championship weekend will be released by the end of October.
